  Making Time to Read
I know we all have limited time, and time you spend doing anything else is time you don't spend writing. But all the same, I think it's good to keep reading. It reminds you why writing is such a wonderful art, helps you keep in touch with what is being published and is a damn good way to relax.

When I was a student I would get up early just to have a cup of coffee and read a few chapters. Now I slip it in at lunchtime and during the after work dog walk. I probably only fit in a few chapters on the average day but it's enough to get through a book every week or so.

Are you getting your reading done, and if so when do you fit it in?

p.s. that's the actual seat I sit on to read ;)

Well this week, I'm trying to get it done on my PDA outside a conference. But the lobby of the hotel is so cold, I can barely concentrate. Inside the conference, I'm fighting sleep. Can't seem to win. Maybe next week. Maybe at vacation...

I always have a book on my nightstand and read when I go to bed every night. I read two or three chapters until I get drowsy. It's something I look forward to all day.

I was having a dilemma about not reading, and then I remembered the glory of the print book. I can barely sit at a computer without feeling the obsessive urge that I should be writing, but with a print book in the bathroom or in bed or on the train ride to work, I actually can get a lot of reading done.

I'm not getting any reading done, and it is not good for me as a writer. Must make more effort. Especially as I came back from Westercon with still more books...

I have a VERY hard time finding time to read. I keep a pile of books by my bed, but like tonight, I usually hit the hay so late I won't touch any of them. I sort of have a solution to the problem though. I've been listening to podcast books and short fiction. I'm loving it. I can go exercise for half an hour and get a couple of chapters in while I walk or run. And I've been listening to some really great stuff! In fact, the podcasts I've been listening too have really re-ignited my love for sci-fi, fantasy and horror.
